PROFESSOR LARRY O.C. CHUKWU earned LLB (2:1) (Calabar); BL (2:1) (NLS); LLM (Lagos); and PhD (Abuja). He was called to the Nigerian bar in 1989. With impressively diverse skills and expertise in litigation, solicitorship and ADR, he has been in active legal practice for over three decades. In 1998, he joined Faculty of Law, University of Lagos. He later transferred to University of Abuja as Senior Lecturer and rose to the rank of Professor of Commercial & Property Law. He was appointed Professor of Law (on Sabbatical) at Mountcrest University College, Accra, Ghana in 2011-2012 and Visiting Professor of Law at Golden Gate University, San Francisco, USA in 2017. He is External Examiner/External Professorial Assessor for several Universities as well as the Nigerian Law School.
Professor Chukwu has published extensively in reputable local and international journals, and is on the editorial board of numerous learned journals. Among his books is the ground-breaking Trust Investment Law and Practice in Nigeria (Including Pension Trust Investment). He has attended and presented papers at several learned conferences, workshops, and seminars locally and in all the continents of the world, except one. He is a member of many local and international professional bodies, including International Society of Family Law, Commonwealth Lawyers Association, Nigerian Institute of Management, Nigerian Association of Law Teachers, and Nigerian Bar Association. He is a Fellow of Nigerian Institute of Chartered Arbitrators (FCArb), winner of Judge Bola Ajibola’s Prize in 2020, and Faculty Member since 2021. He is also a foundation Fellow and Council Member of Nigerian Immigration Lawyers Association (FNILA).
